Lacey Live Review

Hailing from Nottingham, Lacey are an alternative pop rock quartet who are steadily making a name for themselves on the rock scene. Most recently they were on tour with People on Vacation (Side project of Bowling for Soup’s Jaret Reddick) and Patent Pending, and considering the dedicated following these bands have this was a great opportunity to showcase what this young UK band has to offer. 

I saw them perform at the Wedgewood Rooms in Portsmouth on the last night of the tour, and was markedly impressed with their performance. I think they sell themselves short by calling themselves pop-rock, a genre which might put some people off checking them out in the first place. Yes, if you like Kids in Glass Houses and You Me At Six you may like Lacey but if you also like more mature sounding bands like Anberlin you will also appreciate them.

They played a mix of tracks, including some which will be on the new album they’re currently working on and played them all with energy you’d expect on the first night of the tour, not the last. What I really like about this band if that they know their strengths, they have great complementing vocals and make full use of them on the sing along choruses. 

As a special bonus Patent Pending came on stage (spontaneously) during one of their songs, which served to amp the crowd up even more and also allowed David, Lacey’s drummer to take a turn at crowd surfing. Lacey are energetic, fun loving and friendly guys who I give 4 out of 5 stars to because they did a stand up job of warming the crowd up and left me wanting to see them again.
